I wish I’d known then that this list wouldn’t prepare me at all for marriage. I married my husband five years ago and walked into our new life dragging my list behind me.

Whether it’s written down or strung together in a mental daisy-chain of “must-haves,” we’ve built up expectations for our future spouse. With technology's advancements, a check on the weather report is at the palm of your hands, so you can dress accordingly and change as needed.I had a list. Pack in layers, rain gear, and the like to weather the changes as best as possible. You may run into long stretches of blazing sunlight when all of a sudden, the temperature drops and you encounter heavy rainfall. However, the one guarantee about Mother Nature is that she is a very unpredictable being. Perhaps it's summer in your area, with not a cloud in sight. A windshield serves as a barrier to these issues, while also diminishing the amount of wind being blown onto your body, which can cause fatigue at high speeds. It also doesn't feel good when pebbles and other small debris come racing into your chest. However, the splatter of tiny bugs doesn't make for a good look on your jacket. To some, a windshield seems contradictory to the purpose of a motorcycle, which is feeling as much wind as possible. A well cushioned seat and backrest can help with your positioning so as to avoid bad posture while properly-adjusted handlebars reduce arm fatigue. This goes beyond just positioning, though. In order to avoid unnecessary strain on your body, you should position yourself comfortably on your motorcycle. Just like how you should plan your stops, you should also be mindful of your riding position. Plan locations to sleep in for the night it may be tempting to jump further ahead on your route when traffic is minimal, but remember, you are harder to see at night and fatigue can set in. Besides, you never know what you might find at a rest area. Take the time to really stretch out your legs and walk about. Make sure to stop in rest areas as much as possible sitting for long periods of time is detrimental to your health as it can affect your posture and ruin proper blood circulation. You may want to ride like the wind, but your body won't always agree with you. Beyond that, some extras are always good to make your ride easier if you have the space. Pack enough clothing, bring along your toothbrush, make sure you carry the charging cables for your devices, and be along your way. You're going to be away from your home for a bit, so make sure to pack the essentials. Bring Along the Necessities (and some extras) You'll want to accommodate for rest stops and look for areas of interest any place you get to relax will make your journey easier and enjoyable. Plan your trip around the distance to the destination and see what lies in between. Your main destination should serve as a beacon and everything in between is the filler.

Select Your Destination Even if you feel like wandering about, having a destination in mind helps orient you. Whatever your plan is, Sena's handy guide to get your journey started on the right foot. With all the riding you may or may not have done, are you in a comfortable place piloting a motorcycle now? Then perhaps it's time to take a journey of your own! Maybe you've heard of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and want to check out the open trails that South Dakota offers, or maybe you want to do a sightseeing tour of the country.
